JEAN MONNET ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAMME
PROJECT NUMBER -565159-EPP-1-2015-1-BA-EPPJMO-MODULE

Summary of Project/Sažetak projekta

Module "Facts and Challenges of the EU Accession" will take place in the period from 2016 to 2018 at the University of Mostar, Faculty of Economics. Also, in the project implementation representatives from other universities, enterprise sector, local and regional authorities will be involved, as well as other groups interested in EU topics.

The Module implementation is planned through lectures three times a year, which will cover topics about the history and theory of economic integrations, legislative and institutional system of the EU and business opportunities in the EU market as well as an analysis of the current state of integration of BiH towards EU.

Accordingly, the module will be focused on three main areas:

  1. EU information sources and the position of BiH  in the accession process
  2. EU institutional and legislation system in terms of doing business with EU
  3. Theory and practice of economic integration - guidelines for adjustment of economy and enterprises in BiH

Lectures are primarily intended for bachelor, master and postgraduate students, whose presence will expand their knowledge and understanding of EU integration and generate new conclusions that can be useful on BIH’s road to the EU. For all registered students materials will be prepared with the content of individual lectures in order to ensure their preparedness and understanding of the subject matter. For students and other interested parties who would not be able to participate in lectures it is planned to prepare a special E-chat room.

Expected impact of module/Očekivani učinci projekta

The Module is primarily addressed to students of the Faculty of Economics in Mostar. Also, Module will be open to all Mostar’s university students who are interested in EU topics. Students will become familiar with theoretic and historic background of the EU integration process, institutional and legal framework and with concepts of doing business at the EU internal market. Furthermore, they will get a better insight into the global economic position of the EU, together with its impacts on national economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Students will also become familiare with advantages of full EU membership.

The proposal of the Module covers all the areas of the EU system, contributes to stimulating enhanced knowledge on the European integration process. It enhances the visibility of scientific resources and academic activities in this field based on activities and methods of the Module’s results dissemination via internet, media communication and open debate meetings. The project outputs (new knowledge ideas, proposals and skills) will be primarily used by enrolled students. Additionally they will affect all other participants in the project such as invited experts from business and institutions, but also business representatives, NGO members, media and press representatives and all others who will take part in open debate meetings of the Module.

Special importance of the project is derived from the fact that Faculty of Economics in Mostar was not been involved in the implementation of J.M. activities so far. It should create a basis for future actions and enable the creation of knowledge networks aiming on easier integration of BiH into the EU.

All teaching materials will be available online. Through the online access all members of the University and other specific communities will be adequately informed about the character and impacts of the EU integration process. Also, as mentioned before, special E-chat room will be available to those who will not be able to attend lectures in the classroom.

Each year, when the Module is finishing, an open debate meeting will be organised for invited participants from business and institutions (on regional and national level). Participants coming from business community and different institutions and from NGOs will be invited to the open meeting debate by special invitations. The event will be introduced through different media and via information given on the web page. Ideas and suggestions developed during the meeting will be collected and made available to general public through the online access.
